Caution when using red / pink stains in green state with Zirconia

Modified on Thu, 21 Aug at 10:48 AM

If you are using red / pink stain with green state Zirconia, we highly recommend  using 1 coat maximum.

The chemical “Erbium” is commonly used in red / pink stains for Green State Staining.

Pink liquids with Erbium adds another variable and potentially increases the risk of fracture for any type of zirconia.

We recommend technicians avoid using pink stains with Erbium in general.

However some have tested it and use it with no issue. We caution that if you start seeing fractures you eliminate the variable of pink stains in the green state.
